Early in November, 2004, a friend of mine convinced me and another friend, Greg, to take a trip to Tucson, AZ, to pick up a motorcycle he planned to buy. We were tempted to tell him where to go, but, when he told us what the motorcycle was, we gave in...
As a result, we spent 2 1/2 days on a road trip, with a borrowed trailer (Thanks, Rodger!) to pick up one of the few (6?) NR750 Hondas in the USA.

The NR750 was a no-holds-barred design Honda produced as an engineering exercise. It features oval pistons, and 8 (yes, eight!) valves per cylinder! It's essentially a V-8 engine with the cylinder walls hogged out between the adjacent cylinders... About 330 of the machines were hand assembled back in the early '90s, and they were sold only in Europe and Japan.

Oddly enough, some of the guys we ride with seemed to recognize the motorcycle when we showed up at our regular local Sunday Morning ride...

The first stop on the ride was at the local burger joint for breakfast. While we were there, a man and a woman pulled up in an SUV, and screeched to a halt. The man got out of the SUV to look at the bikes. I was willing to bet serious money that he was going to ogle the new Honda. But NO, he went for the antique Ducati... Good thing I didn't bet, cause I would have lost some SERIOUS money!
